Winner of the Kapiti National Piano Competition in 2005, Nelson pianist Buz Bryant-Greene has been recorded by Radio NZ and regularly appears as a solo recitalist and chamber musician across the country.
In addition to the standard repertoire Buz has an affinity with 20th century and NZ repertoire, both old and and new. In 2010 Buz commissioned (with support from Creative NZ) a major new work from Robbie Ellis for solo piano – #llamadrama which follows the plight of a llama who escaped on to one of Melbourne's busiest freeways in 2010. The story first broke on twitter, and proved to be a popular distraction for a long Friday afternoon. As both a narrative and a musical portrayal of the "twitterverse", #llamadrama is a lot of fun to perform, and audiences warm to its humour and originality.
