NZTrio in Upper Hutt - Expressions

Part of the Classical Expressions 2011, NZTrio presents a confident mixture of old and new repertoire for their 2011 appearance. Brahms’ Second Piano Trio, with its soaring melodies, rich harmonies and sweeping rhythms crowns a long list of works for chamber ensembles, while the Trio in B-flat is the first of Schubert’s two glorious piano trios and is a pivotal work for this combination. Works by New Zealander Chris Adams, the current Mozart Fellow at the University of Otago , and American Kenji Bunch, hailed as a “A Composer to Watch” by the New York Times, complete the programme.
