PRISM, this concert from The University of Auckland Chamber Choir conducted by Professor Karen Grylls, is both the highlight and culmination of a two-day festival celebrating the works of twentieth century Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt.

"I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours," said Arvo Pärt. "Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

The Choir, with countertenor Dean Sky-Lucas, will perform Pärt's pieces Berliner Messe, Magnificat, My heart's in the Highlands, The woman with the alabaster box and Trivium for Organ as well as premiereing a new work, Ring out, wild bells, from Eve de Castro Robinson.

Eve says of the work: "Ring out, wild bells is a choral tribute to Arvo Pärt ... The voices here act as bells in a texture of sustained vocal tintinnabulation."
