The Hamilton Civic Choir are accompanied by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and conducted by Rupert d'Cruze in this concert which features Kenneth Young's Lux Aeterna and Johannes Brahms' German Requiem. Soloists for the Requiem are Madeleine Pierard and David Griffiths.
Ken Young wrote Lux Aeterna as part of the 2008 Trans-Tasman Composer Exchange in which he was hosted by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. The work was premiered by them (with the composer conducting) in July 2009. This will be the first time the work has been performed in New Zealand.
