In what has become a keenly anticipated annual event, Baroque Voices, directed by Pepe Becker, present a concert of works which explore similar ideas but which are separated by centuries.
Contemporary New Zealand works are juxtaposed with Medieval European works, on themes of love/death, separation/distance, duality and spirituality. These will include newly commissioned works by Gillian Whitehead, Ross Carey, Jason Kaminski, Carol Shortis, Mark Smythe & Pepe Becker; and a work by Australian composer Rhonda Berry.
With guest instrumentalists: Henare Walmsley (didgeridoo, taonga puoro); Bridget Douglas (flute); Brendan O'Donnell (recorder); Dimitrios Theodoridis (hurdy-gurdy, drum)
This concert will be repeated in Wellington Central next Sunday, 30 May.
