First Nations, Aboriginal, Aztec, Inuit and Maori... this colourful opening concert of the season pays tribute to the unique array of sounds inspired by ancient cultures of the world. Enhancing this rare musical event with Inuit throat-singing, drumming and dancing will be the performing duo, Nukariik. The Cantabile Choirs of Kingston will be directed by Mark Sirett. All the music is on the theme of First Nations or inspired by aboriginal poetry, including David Hamilton's arrangement of Hine e Hine.
