Even now that we’ve solved – with the help of Daedalus, da Vinci and the Wright Bros (not to mention Richard Pearse!) – the problem of getting about in the sky, we still dream of flying. Really flying, like an eagle, an angel, the wind. Perhaps we’re searching for freedom, grace, lightness, elation... much as we do in singing.
In this first concert of the year from Viva Voce, the choir di takes you up, up and away in a swirl of partsongs, madrigals, orchestral re-takes and lighter numbers in a journey which will make your spirits soar, and then set you down gently.
The performance includes Christopher Marshall's High Flight with Yvette Audain (alto saxophone), a work by The Orlando Chorale in honour of John Perkins.
