Matthias Bamert conducts the NZSO in a programme which includes the Prelude and Allegro for Strings by former National Orchestra of NZ-violist, the late Anthony Watson.
The rest of the programme includes a delightful work from Mozart’s most notorious contemporary, Salieri; Mozart's last Piano Concerto (soloist: Steven Osborne) and Mendelssohn's 'Italian' Symphony No. 4. The inveterate traveller Mendelssohn captured the mood of his sunny Italian sojourn in a symphony whose warmth and poetry delighted its first audience in London.
Guest conductor Matthias Bamert will hold a pre-concert questions and answers session onstage from 5:30pm.
