For a third year, Baroque Voices present a concert of works which explore similar ideas but which are separated by centuries.
New vocal works by New Zealand include six pieces commissioned especially by Baroque Voices with funding from Creative NZ. These are O ignis spiritus by Pepe Becker, Ave Maris Stella by Ross Harris, Obscure as the theology of mountains by Jenny McLeod, An Tuiream Bais by Carol Shortis, Ustulo Terra by Mark Smythe, and By The Way by Nick van Dijk. These will be juxtaposed with Medieval works by Hildegard von Bingen, Machaut, Dufay & others…
