This free concert from the Auckland Choral Society features a juxtaposition of New Zealand music and the ever popular Vivaldi Gloria.
A new work from the choir's Deputy Music Director David Hamilton, written to mark Haydn’s 200th anniversary, will begin the concert. Helen Fisher’s Pounamu, an evocative work for flute and women’s choir, will feature our music director Uwe Grodd as solo flautist. The concert finishes with Vivaldi’s Gloria, one of the most popular choral works of all time, full of infectious rhythms, beautiful melodies and stirring choruses.
Soloists include Lilia Carpinelli, Kate Spence and Uwe Grodd (flute) with Pipers Sinfonia, conducted successively by David Hamilton and Uwe Grodd.
