The 7th ADAM International Cello Festival and Competition will welcome performers from around the world competing for a 1st prize of NZ$16,000 plus a Naxos recording contract and NZSO Performance Contract.
The festival presents a magnificent seven day programme of recitals, master classes, workshops, conversazione and social events to complement the competition. Based in the historic surroundings of The Arts Centre in Christchurch, the festival culminates in the final Gala concert with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
As part of the festival a Composition Competition was held towards the end of 2008. "The winning work":http://sounz.org.nz/news_articles/show/135, Fantasia Festa by "Jonathan Crehan":http://sounz.org.nz/contributor/composer/1260, will be a compulsory requirement in the round two repertoire of the competition and will also be performed at the finals gala concert.
For the competition, the international Jury members are Frans Helmerson, Alexandra Ivashkin, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt and Natalia Pavlutskaya.
