Biography
Ngati Porou, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Toarangatira, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngā Tahu.
Whitireia School of Music graduate Awerangi Thompson is a Wellington based singer-songwriter who has travelled the world promoting and representing her culture through Kapa haka. In 2018 she received funding from Te Mangai Paho to complete an EP of three Maori compositions. The project was engineered by multi-award winning Māori music producer Maaka Phat.
Awerangi has worked with artists such as Rānea Aperahama, Maaka Fiso, Andy Mauafua, Wiremu Barriball and Te Rangi tu mai.
