Huia is a bilingual performer from Aotearoa NZ. With electronic beats, organic percussion, live guitars and deep harmonies she has an easy sound with conscious lyrical content. Huia is an award-winning musician, singer-songwriter and a ‘creative freelancer’ in creative business. One of her main strengths is as an ideas generator, whether for music or strategy, and she has the ability to execute these ideas while having fun at the same time. Being self-employed as a creative in music and art for more than 15 years gives her freedom to create unlimited opportunities.
Huia’s vocals have been heard at various festivals and intimate gigs including Splore, Coromandel Summer Fest, Sundaise (The Rogue Stage), Waiheke Jazz Festival, The Big Day Out, R’n’V, The Red Lounge Sessions, Music In Parks, and at Auckland Museum. She has also worked in studio with Rei, Eruera Waaka, Kids of 88, Pieter T, Baitercell, Kevin Mark Trail, Sweet Mix Kids and more. Huia was nominated for Best Female Artist at the Waiata Māori Music Awards in 2018, 2016 and 2014.
