Biography
Amy Lambert is a composer, singer, and conductor born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, writing for orchestra, string quartet, choir, chamber ensemble, solo instrument and electronics. She completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Auckland in 2021, and Masters in Music (Composition) with second class honours in 2024 alongside Dr Leonie Holmes, Dr Chris Gendall and Dr David Chisholm. She also received conducting training from Associate Professor Karen Grylls CNZM at the University of Auckland throughout her undergraduate degree. Throughout 2024 she continued her study with the University of Waikato as a part of the Auckland Secondary Schools Training Program, completing her GradDip in secondary teaching.
Amy’s compositions have been performed and workshopped by members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, The University of Auckland Chamber Choir, Cantare, the premiere girls' choir from Westlake Girls Highschool and St Cuthbert’s String Orchestra. Her music has been performed at the CANZ Composers Workshop in Nelson (2021), APO workshops, Auckland Chamber Choir workshops and she was also the winner of the Llewelyn Jones Prize at The University of Auckland in 2022 with her piece Conscience. For the final project of Amy’s Bachelor of Music, under the guidance of Dr David Chisholm and in collaboration with violinist Haeun Cho, Amy composed her piece for solo violin and electronics Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss which was later recorded, produced and published by SOUNZ in 2022.
As a singer, Amy has sung in venues around the world such as the Vatican and Sydney Opera House, touring Brisbane with Cantare choir and Italy with Choralation choir winning top awards at the Aspire International Music Festival and International Choral Competition. Amy is also a previous member of Auckland Youth Choir, touring Sydney in 2019 and winning a gold award at the 30th Australian International Music Festival.
Throughout 2024 Amy worked alongside Rhiana Maker (HoD) at Long Bay College as a part of the University of Waikato Auckland Secondary Schools Training Program. Whilst completing her GradDip in secondary teaching she is also a vocal consultant for Stella Voce, the SSAA auditioned girls’ choir at Long Bay College, competing at The Big Sing and Cadenza in 2024. Amy is also co-director and conductor of Chorale, the mixed all-comers choir at Long Bay College.
