Biography
Since arriving in New Zealand in 1973, Englishman John Key has earned a reputation as an entertaining Jazz Pianist, working as a soloist in the top restaurants and international hotels throughout New Zealand including The Regent, Sheraton and Park Royal.
His work with bands includes a European tour with The Rodger Fox Big Band featuring at performances at the prestigious Montreax Jazz Festival and London’s Ronnie Scott Club and national tours with Wentworth-Brewster and Co. John has also performed on Radio, T.V. and albums with these groups. His own Jazz combo, Strange Fruit, appears regularly on the Auckland club scene and has been performing for 20 years now.
His recorded music enjoys regular radio broadcast. Strange Fruit have released three well-received CDs. John has also produced two volumes of the Kiwi Real Book, a compilation of New Zealand Jazz compositions.
