The Wellington branch of IRMTNZ (New Zealand Institute of Registered Music Teachers) announced a call for scores in late 2021 to address the lack of New Zealand repertoire for young string players at Preliminary, Grade 1 and Grade 2 level. From 185 works submitted by 48 composers, 21 pieces were chosen to be published.
Easy Tunes for Tamariki was launched on 10 April at St Andrew's on the Terrace in Wellington. All the pieces were performed by young students and the event was recorded and filmed by SOUNZ.
Easy Tunes for Tamariki is now available to purchase from SOUNZ in two volumes, in both hardcopy and downloadable PDF format. Click below for score samples!
