Taonga Puoro Animations
Hine Pū Te Hue

Hine Pū Te Hue is the atua of hue (gourd), which is used to create taonga pūoro (musical instruments) that have an amazing ability to heal both mind and soul. Long ago, a great war raged between Tāwhirimātea (Atua of the winds) and Tūmatauenga (Atua of war) and a vicious storm threatened to tear the world apart when the separation of their parents Ranginui (Sky father) and Pāpātūānuku (Earth mother) occurred. Bravely, Hine Pū Te Hue faced the chaos, breathing in the tempest and holding the storm within herself. Hear the melody that she exhaled, so full of beauty that it finally calmed the chaos. This is a story of emotional turmoil and how to calm the chaos within.
