In this free pre-concert talk, composer Ross Harris and poet Vincent O'Sullivan discuss the art of collaboration and of using words in chamber music.
The talk precedes the "premiere of The Abiding Tides from the NZSQ and Jenny Wollerman":http://sounz.org.nz/events/show/1626, a setting of Vincent's poems by Ross. In 2009 Jenny and pianist Piers Lane premiered another work resulting from a Harris/O'Sullivan collaboration, the chamber music version of "The Floating Bride, The Crimson Village":http://sounz.org.nz/works/show/19512. And it was Vincent's words that Ross used as libretto in his chamber opera "Black Ice":http://sounz.org.nz/works/show/13628 and for his 2008 SOUNZ Contemporary Award winning "Symphony No. 2":http://sounz.org.nz/works/show/17631.
This concert is part of the New Zealand International Arts Festival Chamber Music weekend.
