Psalm 47
for SATB choir, with hand claps, hand bells and hand chimes

A setting of Psalm 47.
Though I am not religious, I am spiritual, so I found the challenge of setting Psalm 47 an interesting one when approach to write this work for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington Iowa.
I was particularly interested in their request that the music take the form of an Irish reel, which is unusual for a choral work.
I took the approach of first composing a new reel and then working out a way to bring it around the choir with the handbells, handchimes and handclaps helping the rhythmic element.
