‘When heroines die in opera it seems to take an age. They have enough breath for hitting top C’s but not to continue living. All very puzzling. So too, when an operatic chorus needs to leave the stage urgently, they still find time to proclaim in song and dance how urgent their need to depart is. The following is such a number, decomposed with the greatest of respect to Georg Frederik Handel.‘ - Philip Norman (2022).
'We Are Not Here' was composed by Philip Norman, John Farnsworth and G. F. Handel as the finale of Act 2 from A Stab in the Dark, 1976, a three-act comic operetta by Philip Norman and John Farnsworth.
