Chris Artley's The Lord is My Shepherd is a very singable and well-crafted setting of the Psalm, which makes for an enjoyable and achievable challenge for any SATB choir. The careful balance of repetition in the melody with variation in harmonies and structure ensures that voice part learning is transferable between verses, yet the piece has contrast and colour a-plenty. The optional duet parts for violins (which also work beautifully with flutes) give an added flavour, which set the piece apart from the norm.
