This setting continues a series of pieces using texts from the tradition of the African-American spirituals. It uses typical melodic and rhythmic ideas from pieces in that tradition. The opening lines recur as a refrain but also appear within each verse. As with many spirituals, the text tells of the promise of heaven.
Piano may be used for rehearsal purposes.
