In August and September, the New Zealand String Quartet will perform across Aotearoa for our 2021 National Tour. Immerse yourself in astounding beauty, inspire your senses, and fire your curiosity through four centuries of string quartet music…

Enjoy the NZSQ's premium concert experience at Wellington's Public Trust Hall. Elegantly dressed table settings await you, and your ticket includes a complimentary drink and canapés served during interval. Our catering partner has designed an array of exquisite food to complement the magnificent music of Haydn, Gareth Farr, Ligeti, and Dvořák. This is sure to be an unforgettable experience, pairing the finest food and music, all within the grand historic setting of Public Trust Hall.

Now in its 34th season, the New Zealand String Quartet has established an international reputation for its insightful interpretations, compelling communication, and dynamic performing style. The Quartet is known for its imaginative programming and for its powerful connection with audiences of all kinds.

In Programme 1, the warmth of Haydn’s ‘Sunrise’ Quartet is the perfect overture to the tui calls of the Marlborough Sounds that inspired Gareth Farr’s Te Koanga. Ligeti’s stimulating String Quartet No. 1, ‘Métamorphoses nocturnes’, brings contrasts of light and dark, before the ever-popular Dvořák’s String Quartet Op. 51.

Haydn String Quartet Opus 76 No. 4 ('Sunrise')
Gareth Farr 'Te Koanga'
Ligeti String Quartet No. 1 (‘Métamorphoses nocturnes’)
Dvořák String Quartet No. 10, Op. 51

Please note: in the event that public gatherings are restricted on day of concert, tickets booked may be refunded.
