Keta Rima Te Ahuru (nee Kaiwai-Herbert) Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Ira, Te Iwi Mōrehu Rātana
Keta's Musical background originates from the Rātana Faith she would be immersed in the Rātana Brass Band in Wellington where her family and siblings would play brass instruments and music. Her father and extended family members would sing and become vocal members of the Wellington Rātana Choir. This is where a lot of her teachings and skills would become an influence on her passion and skills for Music. Given her background in Kura Kaupapa Māori, Kapa-Haka would also become a major influence for her creativity and knowledge in Music and Composition. Her father would teach her at the age of 9 how to play simple songs on acoustic guitars, her brothers would teach her to strum and pick on acoustic. Kapa-Haka has a strong influence in terms of composing in te reo Māori, given that Te Reo is her first language. In Wharekura (Secondary School) she would compose music given her Music studies for NCEA requirements. Her performance submissions she would play brass components for credits and internal submissions.
