Tom McLeod



In 2015 Tom won the “APRA Best Original Music in a series" award at the APRA Silver Scrolls for the second year running with TV show Girl Vs Boy. In 2016 he was a finalist again in the feature film category with his score for The Art Of Recovery.

Tom has composed musical drama series' for television, has co-written musical comedy tv pilots and stage musicals, written songs for films, and collaborated with many of New Zealand's most respected recording artists.

His recent work includes scores for feature documentaries Camino Skies and Pecking Order, as well as family feature Kiwi Christmas, and the 3D feature Into The Rainbow - recording with Filmorchester Babelsberg in Berlin and mixing with Grammy Award winning music producer Matt Howe in Doha.

Tom has just completed music supervising and writing the score and songs for NZ's largest locally produced stage musical City of 100 Lovers, and is collaborating on a new musical project Star Navigator, with composer/lyricist Tim Finn.

Other work includes scoring the 6-part TV drama series When We Go To War, feature films Netherwood and 3 Mile Limit (nominated for Best Score at the NZ Film Awards), and acclaimed feature documentaries The Last Dogs Of Winter, Candyman and Lost In Wonderland. He has scored several tele-features for German network ZDF produced by Polyphon, as well as NZ television series' The Killian Curse, Amazing Extraordinary Friends, Secret Agent Men, and the musical drama series Karaoke High.

Tom has collaborated with many NZ music artists including Pass The Gat (Warren Maxwell, Thomas Oliver, Louis baker) The Phoenix Foundation and Luke Buda, and has produced and arranged albums such as Tim Beveridge’s Come Rain Come Shine for Sony Music (recorded with the Buddy Childers Big Band in Los Angeles), and The Spirit Symphony with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

As Music Director, Tom has worked on stage musicals, television dramas and light entertainment shows, is one half of a Duelling Pianos act, and occasionally gets to perform his comic, faux Las Vegas cabaret persona "Tommy Love".
