Biography

Lars Mlekusch is a graduate from Music Academy Basel (Marcus Weiss) and from Northwestern Univerisity Chicago (Dr. Frederick Hemke) where he earned his Soloist Diploma and Master of Music, both with highest distinction.
Further studies with Arno Bornkamp (Amsterdam) and Claude Delangle (Paris).

Performances with the world renowned Klangforum Wien (Vienna), Symphony Orchestra Basel, SWR Symphony Orchestra Freiburg and Baden-Baden, Ensemble Kontrapunkte Vienna, Collegium Novum Zurich, New Zealand Stroma Ensemble and many others. Mlekusch was a founding member if the Raschèr Saxophone Orchestra. Performances in many European Countries such as Germany, Austria, Norway, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Spain as well as New Zealand, USA, Taiwan and Japan at some of the most important music feastivals (among them Salzburg Festival, Darmstadt, Donaueschingen) Mlekusch is a member of the Vienna Saxophone Quartet (Austria) and the 4Tenors saxophone quartet and the Duo Saxophonic.

He commisioned and premiered many work for solo saxophone or chamber music. Since 2005 Mlekusch is professor for saxophone at Konservatoriun Wien University and from 2004-2007 he was assistant teacher for saxophone at University of Music Basel and has taught masterclasses in New Zealand (Victoria University of Wellington, University of Hamilton, University of Christchurch), USA (Northwestern University, DePaul University Chicago, Michigan State University Lansing, Florida State University Tallahassee, University of North Carolina Greensboro), Switzerland (Masterclasses Festival Ticino Musica, Arosa Music Festival), Austria (Masterclass Kumberg), Spain (Madrid, Granada, Sevilla and Malaga) He lives in Vienna
