Programme Note

This work was originally sketched as an unashamedly ‘light’ piece for orchestra, using traditional rhumba rhythms and harmonic ideas as a starting point. Several rhythmic and melodic ideas are heard in fragmentary form in the early part of work, eventually culminating in a straight-forward melodic treatment near the end.

Although there are some quieter sections, the rhythmic energy of the opening is maintained throughout. The piece was also written as an exercise in orchestration. The title was chosen simply for its sound, and should not be taken as a specific warning about the music!
