Programme Note

This piece was conceived of as being a funeral procession, a gondola transporting the augmented triads that Liszt used frequently in his work to their final resting place. It is dedicated to pianist Dan Poynton, who gave the first performance in his recital in the Otago Festival of the Arts, Dunedin, in October 2000.
