Programme Note
These songs were in 1979 for the tenor, John Miley. That year he gave their first performance and later recorded them for Radio New Zealand Concert. The Fairburn poems I have selected reflect different aspects of love; infatuation, vulnerability, frustration, whimsy and regret.
