Waiteata Collection of New Zealand Music Vol. 6 - Composer Portrait: Jack Body |
A selection of Jack Body’s finest works representing the numerous avenues that he has explored through his music. A handful of piano favourites, such as the descriptive_Four Stabiles_, the technically demanding Three Rhythmics, and familiar Sentimental Songs are placed in between pieces that reflect Body’s interest in world cultures, such as Flurry and Five Lullabies. Different still, Body’s orchestral offering Little Elegies, and vocal cycle Love Sonnets of Michelangelo, afford insight toward feelings and responses intrinsic to the human condition.
