Recorded just before the untimely death of Hirini Melbourne in 2003, Te Hekenga-a-rangi presents a range of music for Te Taonga Puoro, (traditional Maori instruments). Through the unique musicianship and artistry of Hirini Melbourne and Richard Nunns and with vocalist Aroha Yates-Smith this CD, produced and edited by Steve Garden, presents new instruments and new techniques. In addition a DVD featuring performance, interviews, and a demonstration of these beautiful instruments is included.
