Profile
Jeffrey Grice, pianist, was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1954. He studied at the University of Waikato (1971-72) and University of Auckland (1973-76) gaining a B.A., B.Mus. (exec.) in 1976. His teachers were Janetta McStay and Bryan Sayer.
Grice received a Queen Elizabeth arts Council Grant to study in Paris with Yvonne Loriod, and received a Licence de concert at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique de Paris in 1978 with Germaine Mounier. He undertook further studies in Israel with Enrique Barenboim (1979-80). Grice also works with Charles Rosen and Florencia Raitzin.
He has performed works by a number of New Zealand composers including Douglas Lilburn, Jenny McLeod, Nigel Keay, Jack Body and Lucien Johnson.
