Biography
Peter Willis is an Auckland-based composer who graduated with a BMus (majoring in composition) from the University of Auckland School of Music in 2005, studying composition with John Elmsly and Eve de Castro-Robinson. He is a founder member of The Committee, and has organised many concerts of new music with them since 2004. His compositions include influences of birdsong, minimalism and aleatoric music. More recently his works have used found objects as sound sources, including stones, shells, metal bowls and a bicycle.
His performed works include Anxome for bass clarinet, No Ordinary Sun for baritone and chamber ensemble Woodwinds and Vibes (flute, clarinet, oboe and vibraphone), and Timepiece for clarinet quartet.
