About
Back 46 years ago (1976), San Mao(三毛), a great Chinese writer, immigrated to the Canary Islands with her exotic boyfriend, Jose, where they spent the last happy time of their lives. Soon after, Jose went out to work, but did not return for a long time; his body was found in the lake, and Sanmao fells into a state of semi-madness. She often thinks of her life in the Canary Islands with her lover. She writes: "Here is the ocean that I love, the wilderness, the strong wind, the Sahara Desert is on the other side, Jose's grave is on the neighbouring island, the town was familiar with, the big city is colourful, and the house is full of books, although I am alone, it is still my home. As a Chinese who bears the scars of five thousand years of suffering, I see another nation that loves life and opens up its souls frankly; in my interpretation, this is not childishness but pure heart."
After a few years, a female hospital worker found San Mao's body hanging by a nylon stocking..
