About

Limbo Ledge features in a number of works by New Zealand painter Bill Hammond as a place of endless stasis, which “plays host to seek birds and avian ciphers that have ascended to a higher plane”. In picnic at limbo ledge microtonal fragments are iterated through endless and elliptical permutations, carried on larger scale sinuous pitch contours, which may represent infinite wave-forms continuing into the past and future. Fluctuating rhythmic configurations create a floating texture that exists without temporal progression.
