'Jasmine Flower' is perhaps the most well-known of Chinese traditional melodies. This arrangement of the tune for erhu (or violin) and piano was made in April 2019, along with a version for violin, viola and piano. The version for erhu and piano was requested by Katia Tiutiunnik for a performance at the China-Asean Music Festival in Nanning in June 2019.
These are both shortened versions of an earlier arrangement from 2017 for flute, bass flute, 2 erhus (or violins) and piano which was made to accompany a traditional Peking opera style dance delivered by Mdm. Chen Bei-bei and children in a concert held at Sias International University, Xinzheng on 11 May 2017 prior to the start of the 11th Annual Women's Symposium hosted at the university from May 12-14, 2017.
The initial arrangement was based upon a recording of a version of the tune for erhu soloist and orchestra kindly provided to the composer by Mdm. Chen.
