This short tribute takes as inspiration the beginning of the orchestral work The Feeling of Sound, which had a great impact on me at the time of first performance. The piece moves through a number of performance directions, all of which I feel reflect aspects of John Rimmer's personality - "with great flourish", "with great kindness", "with great simplicity".
