About

in the middle depicts a journey of transformation as two musical ideas that are distinct in pitch, register, timbre and rhythmic energy slowly take on qualities of the opposite idea growing and developing to a point of unison in which the whole orchestra meets on the same pitch in the final moments of the piece. On a personal level, the work can be seen as the musical depiction of two individuals drawing closer to each other over a period of time.
