About
This solo piano work was written in 2012 and is suggestive of a contemplative twilight journey through the desert road, with Ruapehu drawing ever closer as the first stars begin to show. It opens with broad ascending arpeggio figures which evolve into more jagged, mountainous shapes. The mountain scene is interspersed with glistening starlight-type motions with moments of aggression as well as moments of calm and stillness.
