About

Monolith — from Ancient Greek μόνος (monos) "single" + λίθος (lithos) "stone"

Moonlight — from Middle English mone "moon" + lith "light".

This short work considers the long stories of the many standing stones in the British Isles. They remain, while the languages and cultures of their Neolithic makers are now entirely dark to us.

Difficulty note

Suitable for amateur string orchestras
