About

The Kate Kelly Song Cycle, a collaboration between New Zealand composer Ross James Carey and Central-west NSW writer Merrill Findlay, documents in song the life of one of Australia’s most famous daughters, Kate Kelly.

The premiere of the work was given at the first Kilari-Lachlan River Arts Festival in Forbes, Central-west New South Wales on September 4 2011 by soprano Sian Prior, members of the Forbes Choir and Forbes Choir for Seniors, and an instrumental ensemble conducted by Bill Moxely.

The song cycle is in five parts, to be performed without a break:

  1. Prologue: Bricky’s Sorry Song
  2. Quong Lee’s Aria (Harvest Moon in Spring)
  3. Ghosts of Glenrowan
  4. Poor Irish and Wiradjuri
  5. I Heard the Banshee Cry

Each movement is available to purchase individually by clicking the links above.
