About

This study was written one night in the bath. I had been talking with fellow guitarist Dave Braithwaite, who was lamenting the sorry state of New Zealand guitar compositions. I offered to write him a piece and he requested a short study. Happy, but not Barrios happy,(?) and not using too many open strings.

I took up the challenge, and after a couple of hours of total immersion therapy had something that I considered decent enough to work with and repaired to the NZSM Computer room. By three or four in the morning it was finished and I left for bed. The next morning I called up Dave to ask him to collect his new piece as he was leaving to study in England that day. Seeming a little skeptical he said he would endeavour to drop by. He never showed up, and that’s the last I ever heard from him.

The study is written in a light vein and should be approached as such.
