About

'Cello Symphony' originated in some sketches the composer made during a brief visit to San Francisco in 1985. Written for cellist Paul Mitchell, 'Cello Symphony' is a work of inexorable logic and precision, yet one which also displays the composer's sense of clear-cut lyricism.

Performance history

Performed by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by John Hopkins with James Tennant (cello)
