About
‘Te Kōkī: An Acousmatic Performance’ was a concert last December that drew on the notion, recorded by early Western explorers, that so heavily populated was early Aotearoa with birdlife that the dawn chorus was a near deafening experience.
Rob Thorne, with sonic artist Kent Macpherson, harvested present-day dawn choruses and electroacoustically treated them via a multi-speaker array to afford to the audience the opportunity to experience what the ancient Aotearoa dawn chorus might have sounded like.
Rob discusses the project in part five of our interview.
