Credo

Concert

At 1.23am on 26th April 1986 the worst environmental disaster known to mankind took place in Chernobyl. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the disaster and far from being 'history', the accident continues to affect millions - especially children - in Belarus, Ukraine and Western Russia.

In this concert Saint Patrick's Cathedral Dublin will open its door to a special nighttime musical performance to mark the 20th Anniversary in aid of Chernobyl Children's Project International. St. Patrick's Choir will join the Resurgam Choir and brass provided by Fergus O'Carroll in the premiere of Brent Parker's work Credo.

Credo is the voice of the 'Liquidators', those men who lost their lives in preventing a second nuclear explosion from occurring after the initial explosion. 800,000 men were conscripted into the Chernobyl area from throughout the former Soviet Union to 'liquidate' or blot out the radiation. Brent has written both words and music for this moving piece about their bravery.
