"'Well Within the Madding Crowd' pays homage to the Latin roots of the Sistema programme and is inspired by the intoxicating blend of Latin jazz, soul/R&B and avant-garde classical music and its infiltration into the TV and movie soundtracks of the 60s and 70s. When growing up I loved the music of Henry Mancini in particular and hope that this piece leads to the same sort of fun for the Arohanui string players that I had whilst playing his music."
