Programme Note

Movement I from Valley Echoes tries to evoke the feeling of spaciousness that one experiences in mountainous places. Melodies rise and fall like mist with distant echoes, which answer us like the voice of nature. The work belongs to a series of my works which are inspired by mountains. Also included in this series is The Mountain, for two pianos, and Questioning the Mountains, for violin and piano. (by Gao Ping)
