About

Alan Wells in The Listener reviewed the premiere of this work in May 1997. "Comedy was indeed to the fore ... the moments of deliberate inaudibility, when the protagonist ... retreated into his 'deafness', were wittily simulated (right down to tinnitus on the violin's top string."
