This carol, with words by William Drummond, won the Victor Peters Prize, offered by the Christchurch Harmonic Society, in 1965. Describing the shepherds' part in the nativity drama, there is a certain eagerness to arrive at the scene. The carol ends praising God and asking for peace on earth.
