A Search for Tradition is a seminal talk given by Douglas Lilburn at what John Mansfield Thomson calls in his introduction, “the first halcyon summer school” held for young musicians in Cambridge in 1946. “This talk will always remain…the cry of the watchman heralding the dawn.”
